Barnwell Middle School did a fundraiser for Honor Flight in honor of Veterans Day! Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that raises money to have World War II Veterans flown to Washington DC to see the World War II memorial.
Honor Flight is trying to raise as much money as possible because soon, there won’t be any World War II Vets left to see the memorial built for their service.
Students donated money and got to walk around the track and parking lot during Ac Lab on November 6, 2015.
Barnwell raised a grand total of $1,700.00, which is enough to send at least one veteran. That may not seem like a lot, but considering that there are about 855,070 World War II Vets left (16 million fought in the war), and 492 die each day, it is a big difference. And for that veteran that we sent, it is a big honor!
Donating to Honor Flight by visiting their website would be a great way to show your appreciation to our beloved heroes, so try to donate to Honor Flight when you have the chance!
