The 7th graders finished a book called The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. The Outsiders was published in 1967. Hinton started the book when she was 15 but did most of the work when she was 16. The book was published when she was 18. A movie was produced in 1983, and a TV series was made in 1990 right where the movie left off.
Ponyboy Curtis is a 14 year old boy with two things on his mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. The only thing Ponyboy can count on are his brothers, Darry and Sodapop, and his friends. Struggles start when the Socs, a mean group of rich kids, try to pick a fight with the Greasers. All was well until Johnny, one of Ponyboy’s friends kills a Soc. Ponyboy and Johnny didn’t know what to do but run away from home where the police can not find them.
What do you think will happen during Ponyboy and Johnny’s adventure? Will they make it to freedom and everyone will forget about the killing or will the Socs team up and try to take them down? You can find all of that out in S. E. Hinton’s The Outsiders.
